Here's the extra information from my sister-in-law.
Autism effects 1 in 150 children. Chances are that you or someone you know has had their life greatly changed by this devastating condition. This cause didn't hit home with me until it my home. Four years ago, my daughter, Lizzie, was diagnosed with autism. It was heartbreaking to have our daughter physically in front of us, but we were unable to communicate or connect with her. Through intense early intervention, Lizzie has progressed greatly. We are now able to talk with her, she plays with her brothers and attends kindergarten in the general classroom with an aide. You are welcome to check out her progress on video at http://www.lizziehornok.blogspot.com/ With intense early intervention, children with autism can progress to have a happy lives and become active, contributing members of society. It is so important for children to be diagnosed young, so the early intervention can begin as soon as possible.
Are you concerned that a child might be showing signs of autism? To see a complete list of signs, go to http://www.firstsigns.org/ Autism Society of Collin County http://autism-ascc.org/ does an amazing job of educating the community and supporting the families of children with autism. "Team Lizzie" is running the White Rock Marathon to help support the ASCC.
Your donations will make a difference in the lives of families living with autism. Thanks so much in advance for your support, Julie Hornok
